The Life In Pare:
1. Food
Pare’s food,yup... of course is java food. The well known food is Pecel. Pecel is a food which cosists of rice, stewed vegetable, and nut sauce. When I was studying, around May, 2012 the price of one porsion of pecel is Rp 3000. So cheap, right? yeeeahh... certainly it just pecel without a side dish. But, the side dish is cheap also. One piece of tempe (soybean cake) is Rp 500 and it same as other side dishes, for example fried foods (Tofu and Bakwan). The Indonesian food, rice with chicken or fish is just Rp 5000 and one piece of fruit (papaya and melon) is Rp 1000.
There are so many nice place to eat together with friends, for example Bali House, Wakapo, Wapo, Singgahan, Pecel Pincuk and others. In Bali House, Pecel Pincuk and Singgahan, we can get free hotspot for internet.
2. Transportation
Talking about transportation is very important in Pare. The distance among the courses is not always near. So, we need a transportation there. The students of Pare is common to ride a bicycle. The number of bikes are more than the motorcycle. We can rent a bike from rented house. The average price of rent around Rp 50.000 per month. But, the price will be different depends on our bergaining and the place of rented house. We can get old bike and modern bike easily in some of rented house, eg: pixy.
3. Homestay
We can stay in Dormitory or Boarding House. The boarding house is same as in other places. It has a bed and a cupboard. But, the dormitory is different. It includes English Area. It is very good for us to increase our English capability, especially our speaking. The condition of English Dormitory supports our speaking because most of dormitories make a rule for speaking English 24 hours. The recommended dormitory that bases on my experience is Smart Dormitory (Story). Story has so many activities from Sunday until Friday. This is the schedule of Story when I was staying there, April-May 2012:
The story’s member must join in all of the activities. Dormitory regulation is very strict. If the member does not obey the rule, they cannot stay in Story again. The cost for staying in all of dormitories in Pare more expensive than in boarding house because of the English Area and the Dormitory Program. The cost of boarding house is around Rp 100.000-150.000 and the cost of dormitory is around Rp 150.000-200.000.
4. Entertaining Place
Pare has many entertaining places, eg: Surowono cave, Surowono Temple, Fishing Place and Gumul Building. Surowono cave or Surowono Temple is just around a half hour from Kampung Inggris Pare. It is near also from beautiful mountains, that are Bromo and Kelud mountain.

Organization of moslem students in Pare, Kiss, has an activity every saturday afternoon, like a seminar. The speaker is a motivator or a master of English. So, if we need a motivation or new knowledge, we can go there.
6. How to go to Pare?
If you come from Jakarta, the nice transportation is train (Economic, Business or Executive train) and bus. Business train is around Rp 190.000, the cost is same as the price of a bus. If your transportation is train, you can stop in Kediri Station; and you can continue your journey by pedicab (Rp 10.000-15.000/person); afterwards, by public transportation (Rp 7000-10.000).
If you just have short time to study English effectively, Pare is true place to get your want...
Yeeee....that's all from me, from Kampung Inggris Pare, Kediri, East Java.
